CES 2009: New Sony Vaio is a little knockout

(L-R) Sony Vaio and regular laptop

And in this corner, weighing 1.4 pounds and no bigger than a business envelope, the future, lightweight champion of the wooorrrld! The Sony P series Vaio!!!...

Okay, so CES isn't over so it is not fair to the competition to declare a champion yet but the word on the ground at CES is that the new Sony Vaio is nauseatingly pretty and compact and all of the things that you want in a UMPC (Ultra moble personal computer). So here is a sneak peek at the specs:

  • Chic, compact design measuring about the length of a business envelope and weighing 1.4 pounds
  • Built-in GPS technology for navigating even the most unfamiliar places-- no internet connection required
  • High-resolution 8-inch ultra-wide LCD for viewing entire web pages on one screen-- no horizontal scrolling necessary
  • Available in five fashion-forward colors including garnet red, emerald green, onyx black, crystal white and classic black
