Evernote for Android Update Bears First Fruits of Skitch Acquisition

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about Evernote acquiring Skitch, originally a Mac app that lets you edit/annotate images. Evernote had big plans for Skitch, including integrating some of the app’s best features directly into the Evernote desktop and its suite of mobile apps. Looks like Android wins out as the first app to benefit from the Skitch acquisition.

If you have theĀ Skitch app installed on your Android device , you can open it up directly from Evernote to create a new note using Skitch’s editing tools, or add crucial notes to existing images…or add cute little bunny rabbit ears to your friendsĀ  if you have some downtime. When you’re done with your “Skitch” you can send and save it directly into Evernote. That way, all of your notes and Skitches are in one place even though you essentially have two apps.

The Android update didn’t just stop there. Some productivity updates include offline notes. Without a network connection, free users, you can now search notes that were created on their Android device. Premium Evernote can search their entire note directory (download to an SD card) including searching within PDF saved in Evernote.

Additional features include:

– Moving notes between notebooks

– Viewing images as a slideshow

– Redesigned tagging

– Opening Shared notebooks from a link sent via email

Is there a such thing as mobile app Antitrust laws? If not, then there should be simply because with all the features that Evernote packs as an all-in-one, super-syncing, note-taking platform, other note apps really don’t stand a chance. Check your Android updates or download Evernote in the Android Market to check out these and other cool features.
