Platform as a Service makes building apps a breeze

In business, development time can mean serious money.  There’s a delicate dance of cost vs. benefit – processes that could potentially be automated aren’t because the time it would take to write the code isn’t worth the time that would be saved.  Luckily, the industry is changing, and we’ll soon see a day where your business can develop an app without writing a single line of code.

That day might just be today, AT&T’s new “Platform as a Service” (PaaS) product is a huge step in the right direction.  PaaS offers a complete development environment designed help your business build and launch custom applications quickly, run them reliably and manage them easily throughout the full application lifecycle.  The best part is that you can make it accessible from any device, all at the click of a mouse. The Pantech Crossover is the Perfect Entry Level Smartphone

I recently had the pleasure of using the Pantech Crossover for a week,  and I have to say that I’m impressed.  I have been a smartphone user for a REALLY long time (I don’t want to say how long for fear of sounding like a bigger nerd than I already do).  I feel like I’ve basically seen it all when it comes to handheld devices.  And yet, this small Android device with a real keyboard was still able to surprise me.  As comfortable as I feel with smart phones generally, I realized I hadn’t used one with a proper keyboard since my T-Mobile Sidekick.  While the form was foreign to me, I was impressed at how easily I was able to begin using the Crossover due to its intuitive design and responsive interface. Dell Venue Pro Running Windows Phone 7 Lands on AT&T

One of the premier smartphones that was used to show off the new Windows Phone 7 platform in its infancy was the Dell Venue Pro. The combination of the full AMOLED touchscreen and vertical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, in addition to a 1GHz processor and 720p video recording capabilities, had WP7 early adopters salivating over what the platform and the device could do. The phone is sleek, black overall with chrome trim and has scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. Overall, a very professional-looking device if you ask me. And let’s not forget the attractive WP7 platform filled with Microsoft Suite capabilities that will ensure your Word Documents, Excel Files, PowerPoint presentations, and Outlook email (and XBox Live profile when you’re ready to close up shop) syncs effortlessly with your mobile device.

Once the Venue Pro hit the streets, it was only available on the T-Mobile network and exclusively from Dell. Now, AT&T has decided to make the device compatible on its network. Now, AT&T customers will be more than happy to snag the Venue Pro and give the WP7 platform a spin.

You can pick up the Dell Venue Pro on a 2 year contract for only $99 bucks ($500 unlocked). I checked AT&T’s website and it doesn’t list the device, so if you are thinking about giving it a try, it looks as if the Venue Pro is still being sold exclusively via Dell’s website.
